Image caption not working with 3.7.1

    I have problems with media image captions. If I add a caption to an image in a post it seems like the link to the image breaks and there is just a grey square in both the visual editor and on the published page.

    I have tried a few themes so I am pretty sure it i WP and not the themes. I have no installed plugins that can affect this and I have tried the behaviour on two different installations of WP.

    This should have been fixed in 3.7.1 – have you cleared any caching on your site and browser? What browser & version are you using? Do you have this problem in twentythirteen theme with all plugins deactivated?

    Yes I was hoping it was fixed when i read this: http://wordpress.org/news/2013/10/wordpress-3-7-1/

    I have tried chrome, Firefox and Safari on a Mac OSX Maverick but I know my clients have the same problem on windows.

    Yes I have tried twehtythirteen theme and on two different installations. It seems to be a WP problem…. ;o(

    Hmm, yeah that seems odd – can you post a link to a site that has the problem still?

    Looks like there’s caching on that site – have you cleared and turned that off to test it?

    That’s also a commercial theme – have you deactivated all plugins (also reset the plugins folder to make sure they are all off) and switched to twentythirteen?

    Yes there is caching and I have tried to turn that of. I have tried twntythirteen and I have turned of the plugins.

    Is it working for you with image captions?

    Every post I’ve seen has had this problem resolved in 3.7.1. The site still looks the same so something isn’t working if you are trying to switch the theme and deactivate plugins.

    A lot of experiments later…… I might have nailed it down to the CKEditor plugin?
    However I am not sure so I would appreciate if somebody else that uses it can confirm this?

    That plugins has problems according to the forum:

    http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/ckeditor-for-wordpress

    It hasn’t been updated in almost a year – so that may be why.

    Thanks for that link… that seems obvious to be the reason…
    Any idea for another rich editor?

    You could try Ultimate TinyMCE – people seem to like it.
