• I’m a web’tard and I’m sorry if this is an annoying question but I have no other choice than to ask because I’ve checked every other possible cause and I’m told it must be WP.org
When I try to add a picture to my post, I get an error message that says:

Unable to create directory D:\Hosting\4544738\html/wp-content/uploads/2011/08. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Can anyone give me the idiot’s-guide solution to be able to post again?
    Thanks,
    Suzy

  • it might be a problem of owner in your folders,

if your ‘uploads’ folder has not been created yet, try to put 777 as rights for your ‘wp-content’ folder with your ftp client, then upload a new picture to a post, then come back to your ftp client and put 755 as rights to your wp-content folder

Some older browsers ( like Internet Explorer 6 – 7 ) can cause problems during uploading media files . Have you tried to use an alternative browser ? ie Firefox .
