I’ve been trying to update my wordpress for a while but it always stuck on downloading the update, can anyone help?

Also the same thing goes for all the Plugins and Widget when I try to download them.

  • Try adding AddType x-mapp-php5 .phpto the top of your WordPress .htaccess file.

    Hello,
How can I add it? or where?

FTP into your site (or use whatever file management application your host provides) and locate the .htaccess file in your WP folder. It’s often hidden by many file management tools, so ensure that your application is set to view all (including hidden) files.

If you’re using FTP, download the file to your computer, open it in a plain text editor, add the line I suggested at the top of the file, save it and re-upload it to the original folder.

If you’re using a file management application provided by your host, you will need to consult your host’s documentation on how to edit/amend the file.

    Hello,
I did it by downloading the file & editing it by plain text editor and reuploaded again, now my website does not work & I still can not update it, any suggestions?

    Sorry for all the trouble

Guys anyone here can help me please.
esmi I tried that & uploaded the file again but now its not working & my website too, what can I do?

Well, first thing I’d try is take that line out or upload the backup .htaccess that you saved before editing.

Second thing would be to download the current WP ZIP archive, unzip it and upload to where your WP install is, rather than trying the auto-updater. Some hosts have things set up such that the updater won’t work unless you change a few parameters first. NOTE: If you’ve edited any core files you’ll overwrite them unless you take precautions first. When updating my installs, I only overwrite files that are newer than what is on the server and I’m done. Takes going through each and every directory but I like knowing what is where anyway, so….
