    This indeed sounds like a permissions problem, or a problem with your editor or FTP client. Have you tried to download the file, make the changes locally, and upload it again (replacing the old one)?

    Yes. I have tried that. I’ve even edited the permissions in cpanel. But when I refresh the plugin, it becomes overwritten.

    Ah, I think I understand now: You can write to the .htaccess file, but the changes get overwritten afterwards.

    Probably you have another, overzealous, plugin that writes to (and watches over) the .htaccess file. I would try to disable as many plugins as possible and see if the problem persists.

    Thanks for the quick replies. Is there any way to tell which one is doing it? Or is it shooting in the dark?

    No idea. A security-related plugin maybe?
