How to Strip Shortcode Markup in "content"

Hi,

When using {post_content} in the category templates, is it possible to strip the markup generated from shortcodes? Currently all the shortcode brackets on my posts are being rendered and displayed in the content description in Ajaxy.

For Example

[shortcodes] are showing up in search instead of actual text
