How to include javascript in Post

Hi, I included javascript calls on form submit, for checking form.
When it didn’t work I tried most of the methods directed on google and codex. Including the direct code didn’t work. On externalizing the code to a seperate file and than calling it directly obviously gave the output on pageload and that is not what I want. Is there anyway of including code in wp posts.
