How to correct date errors?

Ivejust got started with WordPress, and set it all up like I wanted to. It works fine, except that it thinks its the 1. January 2009, how do I change this? In the general settings it says 1. July 2009, but it doesnt work.Ive just updated a post with my update, but it wont show until 1. July, and since the blog thinks it is 1.jan, there will be another 6 months until its posted. How can I correct this so that the blog recognizes what date it is?
