• Hi,

    just a short question: I am a bloody beginner with the whole world of blogging… . I like the wordpress-themes a lot, but is there a chance to customize them?
    I like to have a template that comes close to the wordpress layout…. . I don’t want to have a blog that’s overloaded with graphics and color, just the basic stuff… . Oh, and the ability to change the fonts would be cool as well.

    I’m hosting the blog with wordpress.com, so it’s not a personal ftp server I’m running.

  • You can’t change the theme itself in wordpress.com. You can only change which theme you use of the ones listed. For future reference, though, this site isn’t about wordpress.com. To visit the wordpress.com forum go here.

    Ok, I was so excited about helping people that I didn’t finish reading the question (thanks to moshu I finally did). The rest of the post is not true for WP blogs from wordpress.com!

    You can change the template files within wordpress 2.0.

    Log in as admin, click on “Presentation” and then “Theme Editor”. For design/color/font alterations you need to make changes to the file “style.css”.

    @mniepert,
    That’s not true for a blog hosted on wp.com!
    Read the reply above yours (and, eventually, the OP before posting!)

    My fault Mr Teacher.

    LOL, twenty something years ago I used to be a teacher… 😉
