You don’t “send” posts to an archive page. They’re listed on archive pages automatically. Archive pages are just a way of viewing lists of posts sorted by date. If you want your archive pages to only show your post titles, you’ll need to edit your theme’s archive.php template file.
Ok sounds good. One additional question:
How do I remove the older post from my main page to only show up in the archives?
Thanks again.
There’s no box to check or switch you can toggle to achieve this. It’s down to either posting some new material to push the older posts off the main page or reducing the number of posts per page via Admin/Settings/Reading.
You rock! Thanks for keeping it simple for me. One last thing if you would be kind.
I’ve changed the number of posts per page to one and I’ve tested it out with a second post and when I click on the archive month, I see ‘older entries’ in the upper left hand corner of post and I see ‘newer entries’ in the upper right hand corner of post.
I want to have the archives simply to be listed in the sidebar widget on right side of page and when someone clicks to see the archives they can see more than one at a time. Is there a setting that I can change so the Archive page will show more than one at a time?
Thank you!
You mean to tell me there’s no way to make it to where the main page only displays the current months posts? That can’t be right. There may not be a setting to adjust, but there has to atleast be a way to modify the code to do this.
