how to activate comments?

    I just intstalled WordPress. How do I activate the comments function? I’ve checked all the boxes in the “Option/Discussion” admin area, but I just get a 404 error message when I try to post a comment to my own site. Are there some specific files or directories related to the comments function that I need to Chmod, perhaps? Thanks for any assistance,

    What did you do to fix it? I get a 404 error. :\

    yes, let me know, too. i don’t get a 404, but it keeps saying “comments are closed” where the comments form should show up.
