    I have a wordpress.com blog right now. I am wanting to add plugins etc so I’m considering a .org blog. I have some questions though. will it have a similar look as the .com? I like the ease of use of the .com interface. does the .org have that?

    My understanding is that it looks similar to .com but I have to host it. Is that right?

    Yes. Your personal wordpress will give you much more independence to use plugin and themes. WordPress is a wonderful open source cms and blog. You can do anything with it if you know how to. Your decision is very good. The only drawback is that you will have to update your wordpress manually but thats not too difficult. Just one click in your admin area and you are done. By the way do take your database backups before updating. Look at my site for excellect customization examples.
