How do I create user specific pages?

So here’s what I’d like to have:

– A “splash” screen with a login form, that doesn’t let anyone onto the actual site without having a valid user/pass (not critical, but I’d like this).

– A landing/profile page where the user automatically ends up after logging in that I can easily customize, preferably a regular WP page, so that I can provide each individual user with their own information as soon as they’ve logged in – which none of the other users will see/have access to. (Critical)

Does anyone know of any (free!) plugins or methods for doing this?
