• Hello everyone. I am an amateur at WordPress, not a web designer by any metric. I am volunteering to help a local historical society of mine fix up their WordPress website. Most things I have been able to understand fairly well, and I was able to make good changes for them! However, the one issue I keep running into is that when I try to change their homepage to a static one separate from their blog posts, the page stops showing up, like it doesn’t even exist. It doesn’t matter if it’s the static homepage I designed or another page that’s been on the site for a while, when I change it in settings to be the permanent page, it stops showing all the page features for visitors. The pages will show up if not set to be the homepage, but unless it’s the blog page, I can’t get the static pages to show up. I’ve tried clearing my cache, and I made sure this isn’t just my computer, it does the same thing on multiple computers. Is there anything I can do that might fix this?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

You are using the Businessbiz theme. I just took a look at it and can understand your confusion. It seems that you cannot select a static page—the same one is always displayed. As soon as I switch to a different theme, the setting is applied.

I therefore suspect that this is related to this theme. You have the following options:

    • Contact their support team: https://wordpress.org/support/theme/businessbiz/
    • Change the theme. There are thousands of others to choose from where you can let your creativity run wild. However, I suspect that you would then have to change much more than just the home page of the project. This could therefore involve a certain amount of effort.
