• Can someone please tell me what might be causing high server load as my site keeps getting suspended (shared hosting) and I don’t know what to do anymore..
I have optimised all the rows having overhead values in my WP database structure, installed W3 Total Cache… and it doesn’t seem to resolve the issue šŸ™
I would not say there’s a large percentage of 404 errors.
    Recently removed
WordPress.com Stats (which also didn’t help)
    WP-UserOnline (just did that..)
The hosting says: “many of your requests are coming from the admin_ajax.php file which is very unusual. Do you have a plugin that modifies or adds functionality to the admin interface such as a widget?”
    Well.. I have no idea!

I am using the following plugins:
    Advanced Excerpt
    Akismet
    All in One SEO Pack
    AntiVirus
    Exclude Pages from Navigation
    Exec-PHP
    Featured Content Gallery
    GD Star Rating (done this)
    Google XML Sitemaps (done this)
Mingle Forum (supposedly shouldn’t cause any server issues at all if you have something more then 32 for your php memory – I have a 64MB php memory limit)
    Mingle Forum Guest Info
    User Photo
    Sociable
    Thank You Counter Button
    W3 Total Cache
    Wordpress Video Plugin
    WP-Polls
    WP-reCAPTCHA
    WP Paged Comments

    I would LOVE to help

This is what I do before breakfast

    http://www.123milliseconds.com/

    YOur url please

without that I can only guess, try this, try that ….

I would like to point to ACTUAL problems

    Thread Starter Springgg

    (@springgg)

My url will surely not help as the hosting disabled it again. And this time didn’t even leave me access to wp-admin

This time they recommended removing an entire list of plugins without which the site doesn’t have much sense. Plus – to replace All in One SEO with Greg’s High Performance SEO

Anyway, any help is much appreciated!

    Alwyn Botha

    (@123milliseconds)

    OK

    I do not think you use too many plugins ; I have seen more;

    I think its this….

“many of your requests are coming from the admin_ajax.php file which is very unusual. Do you have a plugin that modifies or adds functionality to the admin interface such as a widget?

    Thread Starter Springgg

    (@springgg)

But… I have no idea what that means

    Alwyn Botha

    (@123milliseconds)

    Hi

Lets dissect it … scapel ready …

    >>>many of your requests are coming from the admin_ajax.php

Something is calling this admin php program a LOT and causes high server load. Your normal admin work should not cause this.

    >>>Do you have a plugin that modifies or adds functionality to the admin interface such as a widget?

maybe you have installed a plugin that uses this admin program … very wrong

maybe temp rename that program file; then selectively use your website functions and see which program , click, link, or option crashes because it calls that ajax program , which it should not do.

    (@springgg)

    Hi! Thank you!

I think it was WP-user online (the admin_ajax story was from the last time the hosting killed the site)
I removed it back then but now something is causing a mess again.
According to the host, might be one of these:

    akismet
    advanced-excerpt
    all-in-one-seo-pack
    antivirus
    exclude-pages
    exec-php
    featured-content-gallery
    google-sitemap-generator
    mingle-forum
    user-photo
    wordpress-video-plugin
    wp-recaptcha

Now I replaced All in one SEO with Gregs high performance SEO (like they asked) and removed Exec-PHP (can’t really imagine the site without the rest of the plugins).
Deleted all disabled plugins. Disabled the daily antivirus scan.
Optimised all the rows having overhead values in the wordpress database structure.

and seriously.. im sick of it all (especially because most of the story is something entirely beyond my understanding which I assume you can imagine judging by my replies lol

    HI

Sorry to hear you being sick of it.

But if your host gives long lists of maybe these plugins the do not know which one is the problem.

    they just guess.

So i GUESS allin one SEO and exec… does not have problems as well.

    Unfortunately since it seems they did not systematically rule out things one by one ; they ; and therefore you;

still does not know what causes the problem.

    I hope/think WordPress is innocent.

Unfortunately this will have bad taste in mouth , because of

    ??
    apache
    wordpress
    plugins
    mysql
the host – their setup, etc.

Might be a one LINE fix; just need someone willing to investigate it; hearing that satisfying sound when another bug is squashed šŸ™‚

    (@springgg)

They re-enabled the site with conclusion that my modifications were successful (obviously) and “Please note that if this account over uses resources again, we may be forced to recommend a VPS or Dedicated solution.” so clearly you are right that they don’t know what is the issue and clearly I don’t want another downtime nor switching to whatever solution …

    Conclusion: šŸ™

    PS
Is there a plugin that can limit the number of mysql connections?
