    Hi,

    I have added a checkbox to hide empty categories in the widget in version 4.6.0.

    *However*, WordPress will not take into account the ownership of posts when fetching categories. As a consequence, categories will be hidden if they contain no private file at all. But they will be shown if there is a private file assigned to that category (even if that private file does not belong to the current user).

    So currently, this is more involved than what I had expected and could prove quite heavy in terms of queries/processing time. I’ll keep you informed.
