Gone beyond this now, have to be up and running again in the morning.
Doing a restore of a server backup that I did earlier. Just hope that it works… any advice?

rename or delete the plugin you upgraded

no, no change – i think i’ve made my problems worse with the restore from back up
no wp-admin either – essentially can’t access server from the outside world… SimpleScript couldn’t do it either.
reckon i might have screwed it

..got 60,000 words in there as well!
if the server access problem can be cured (not that i know how to) can i rebuild from a vanilla WP and then re-import content?

just done a sql select and into db table wp_posts – all that is in there is the original “welcome to wordpress”
doesn’t sound good.
go to your plugin folder and delete the plugin that you upgraded or last uploaded. I get the same error when I upload an incompatible plugin! You should ALWAYS back up data base and files.
If you backed up the data base you would delete the tables and import the backup!
The same error today for me because I had pointed my root to the wrong folder.

done that, tried to restore a back up from earlier this afternoon – for some reason nothing sat in the tables. apart from original wp stuff. …
ok found some of the stuff in gtcache… whether i can recover it another matter!

backed up the whole database using the server stuff – not the way wp suggest!!! π
where should the root point to?
did you delete ALL folders?
I meant tables from SQL. Did you delete all tables?
