You just need to go to the URL where you have placed the files and everything else will be automated from there on.
http://localhost/folder/ or whatever is the URL of your local host
Thank you very much for the response. Do I not need to set up MySQL and all that jazz? also how do i do that URL when I am not at their building? Its not on my computer the server.
How do I install wordpress so i can edit it from their intranet at my house?
If the intranet site is hosted on their network, you need access to their network, either via VPN or some other secure method. I’m not sure why wppatrick is talking about localhost, as you don’t want the site on your PC.
Thank you. What is a vpn (sorry so new to this) or another option of a secure method? Is there options you like best?
You need to ask the company involved about how their intranet works. While you’re building the site, you can build it on your own PC, but once you give it to them, then it needs to be on their network. “Intranet” implies that its on a network that is not readily available on the internet.
yes thank you. I found a template called woffice that I want to use. How would I set it up on my own computer first? Do they have to have a “domain” name? Sorry I know what intranet is but I am so lost…
Oh you are the greatest person ever!!!!! So basically once I have created the whole intranet using my template and wordpress, I take those files from the local drive and put them on the server? Correct?
Good morning,
I am currently having some issues. I am moving my intranet website from my computer using MAMP to another computer server. We am trying to follow the document listed above and am having some troubles. I have downloaded the files, but since I was using MAMP, how do I export the database using MYSQl? Everytime I try to download MySQL it doesn’t do anything. Am I missing something?
