Is there a plugin or an easy way to make it where, if someone clicks the ‘politics’ category link, he will see a new header at the top of the page?

I have read that, but I have some questions:

1- when I insert a category.php, it seems to make the LOOP go away, so you can see no posts. How do I get the LOOP to stay when I create the category.php?

2- Where can I find some code samples (and where to put them) for making custom category headers?

to create a cat template, i tend to copy the existing index.php and go from there. as for headers, youc ould us if statements

Where to insert? You don’t insert it, you have to create it.
