Group access to pages not working

Hi
I’m having trouble using Groups to restrict access to particular pages on my site.

I’ve set up a test group and capability and assigned that to a page.
Then I added that capability to a test user and logged in to my site as them.

If I have their Role set to “No role for this site” it works (ie they can only access the test page) but if the Role is set to any of the other options then they have access to pages that don’t have the test capability.

I’ve been going round in circles for hours with this so would love your help!!
