• I bought a Go Daddy hosting account for my WordPress blog that I have been using for several months (itslaurenservideo.com, itslaurenservideo.wordpress.com). I know that WordPress 2.8 is installed ‘inside’ of Go Daddy on the ‘Hosting Server’ as they call it.

    1) Does this mean I need to download WordPress 2.8 to my Macbook? I spent most of today working with MAMP and XAMPP using ‘localhost’, which actually took me to the wordpress.com admin page, but as soon as I changed the URL from localhost to ‘itslaurenservideo.com/wordpress’, it crashed on me. I think it uninstalled and re-installed too many times because MAMP and XAMP have stopped working.

    2) Go Daddy has sent me an email stating the following: Dear Lauren Servideo,

“WordPress 2.8 has been successfully installed on your hosting account. To launch this application, click on the URL below or copy and paste it into your browser window:

    http://itslaurenservideo.com/wordpressblog/

Your newly-installed application can also be launched through the Value Application Manager. It resides on the home page under the “My Applications” panel.”

but whenever I go to http://itslaurenservideo.com/wordpressblog, it says “Page not Found”

    Please Help!!

  • Please ask Go daddy support if they have installed the new version properly.

all of your links point to
    http://itslaurenservideo.com
so it’s not installed properly or the url’s in the database are wrong

check the site url using codex examples and input correct ones for where blog actually exists

    hey samboll,

i changed my site url by changing it directly in the mysql database provided to me by godaddy. when i went into both the ‘site url’ and ‘home’ fields, it said in the box “http://itslaurenservideo.com/wordpressblog,” which i changed to just “itslaurenservideo.com”. when i go on itslaurenservideo.com, the site comes up as it is supposed to. but still, when i go to itslaurenservideo.com/wordpressblog, the links, title, etc of my page come up, but at the bottom it says “page invalid”

thank you so much for your help!

so what are you trying to do?
    what do you want where?

So I just talked to the GoDaddy help/support whatever, and this is what they told me:

According to a public Whois database, it appears that the domain itslaurenservideo.com has been pointed to third party nameservers.

Please note that in order to properly host your domain with GoDaddy, you will need to modify the nameservers of the domain to the following with your current registrar:

    NS51.domaincontrol.com
    NS52.domaincontrol.com

They told me once I am able to make that change, GoDaddy will start working with my WordPress again and I will be able to access itslaurenservideo.com/wordpressblog/wp-admin so that I can start activating themes and all that.

What I am really trying to do is access my self hosting WordPress so that I can work with the themes. I am new to this and have no idea why itslaurenservideo.com would be redirecting to the /wordpressblog part
