Why isn’t there a little button to turn off trackbacks and pingbacks on ALL previous posts? And no plugin that does this?

Yes, I know it’s impossible.

But why?

Conspiracy theorists? Anyone?

No idea about conspiracy theory but this was recently the topic of a wptavern.com post.

The short of it is that this just takes a simple mysql database modification, see Jeff’s comment on that article.

Making that a plugin could be done but it’s a one time change for existing posts.

Actually …. changing this behavior in core has been talked about. It’s related to this: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/27111
