    I am converting a static html site to a wordpress site, and on the home page there is a gap between the header and the actual posts. I have been messing with all of the margins in css, but i cannot find out what is causing the problem.

    You have four:

    <br/>

    tags at the top of your div with the ID of text.

    That's not the problem, the gap I don't want is below the picture & twitter feed. you will see a gap that is approx. the same size as the title bar before the "hello world".

    The height set in this CSS is creating the gaps above and below the slideshow:

    #gif {
        height: 500px;
        left: -45px;
        position: relative;
        top: 0;
    }
