pageofposts problem with gallery posts

I’m having trouble with a gallery post on the homepage of this site which uses the pageofposts.php template:

As you can see there is a gallery post called “Charity event” which is showing all 19 thumbnails, when I want it to use the abreviated thumbnail and the “This gallery contains 19 images” link, as it does on the blog page:

I noticed the loop.php has special code to display gallery posts (see below), but this is not included in pageofposts.php (nor anything else useful!) and I’m not experienced enough to add it in.

I’d be grateful for any help.
