@jonathanmaby – Unfortunately that image does show a vertical column of thumbnails but it is completely without context as it relates to your site (or device?!)

Can you provide a link to where you are seeing this issue?

    Thanks!

The page which it appears on is here

Maybe I have set up the gallery wrong? If so, how can I set it up correctly to appear in rows/columns?

@jonathanmaby – Have you tried looking at possible active plugin conflicts, or caching issues?

You might even look to see if this is theme related by either checking the parent theme as is, or even a default WordPress Twenty series theme.

    Thanks!

It doesn’t appear to have any plugin conflicts. These are the only plugins I have installed at this moment in time: http://puu.sh/cFVpH/4130bf5199.png

What do you mean by the theme being related?

@jonathanmaby – Do you have the same issue if you deactivate the page builder plugin?

Also, it is often a good idea to check with a default WordPress Twenty series theme to ensure there is no possible theme component to the issue you are seeing.

If I deactive the page builder plugin, I’ll have to re-do the whole site really :/

I tried the twenty thirteen theme and it works fine on that, so it appears as though it’s a theme issue which is a shame…

@jonathanmaby – It could be more localized to how the page builder plugin is working rather than the theme in total … but given that it works with Twenty Thirteen you at least have a benchmark to work from.

How would I insert the gallery without using this page builder? I can’t seem to find anywhere to insert a widget for NextGEN gallery?

    Plugin Contributor photocrati

    (@photocrati)

@jonathanmaby – NextGEN Gallery is meant to be inserted into the content of the post of page. If the page builder is based in widgets then you would most likely need to work-around that by using text widgets and then using NextGEN Gallery shortcode structures within those text widgets.

I would expect shortcodes within text widgets would be supported but if it is not then you can add that support to your installation fairly easily.

See this article for more details: http://wpfirstaid.com/2012/10/use-shortcodes-in-text-widgets/

If you are able to use the TinyMCE editor then you should also be able to use the IGW (“green button”) to insert displays as needed. If you are forced to use shortcodes then this article may be helpful in building the one(s) you need: http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/nextgen-gallery-shortcodes/

    Thanks!
