    Hi There

I have just migrated from wordpress.com to wordpress.org including transferring my domain. I’m trying to make my home page the front page/static page (because at the moment it has defaulted to the blog) and have followed instructions to go in to settings and reading etc which doesn’t seem to work for 4.4.2

    Can somesone help me please?

    Thank you
    Emma

    Emma,

Try switching back to the default WordPress theme ‘TwentySixteen’ and see if the Front Page Displays setting appears?

I did do that and but there was no difference. I’ll try again and let you know;)

No different, I have tried the other default themes available also and they are all missing the front page setting function.

    Emma,

Hmm. Try going to Appearance > Customise. Go through those options to see if there is an option for a static front page.

Just to confirm Emma, you do have pages created on the website don’t you? Such as a Home page, and contact page. You’ll find these in at Pages > All Pages.

I have 17 pages in total and I even created two additional pages titled ‘home’ and ‘blog’ to see if I could get the reading settings to materialise but that didn’t work either. I will try the appearance>customise option now. Thanks

I have actually gone through all the appearance and customise options to no avail. Can I give you my sign in details to see if it appears the same for you as it does for me?

    Emma,

Whenever I try navigating to one of your pages, I get a 404 error saying the page is not found.

    Grant.

Is that because I have all my pages set to ‘private’?

    Emma,

That is possible, try setting two to public.

    Hi Grant

I have made public my ‘home’ and ‘blog’ page. Although oddly, when you type in http://www.contemporaryhealthcare.co.uk and it defaults to the blog posts, when you actually click on ‘blog’ in the menu the blog appears empty? Thankfully when you click on ‘home’ the home page is there. A couple of strange things going on.

    Thank you!

    Hi Grant

I’m unsure if the last reply sent. Just to let you know that the problems are remedied. Making the home and blog pages public enabled the reading the settings. Hooray. Thank you and have a good Sunday. Emma

    Hi Grant

How do I change the footer for http://contemporaryhealthcare.co.uk please? There are numerous link buttons to the right that I would like to erase. Thanks.
