Fresh install

I have installed v4.4.2 on WAMP 2.14.7 64 bit on windows 8 pc 64 bit.
I have installed it to DB WordPress and have user WordPress as admin.
.
WAMP is configured for virtual hosts.

Loading local host and selecting the WordPress project loads the default site. However I am unable to access the back end. Appending /wp-admin to the site does load the login screen however this rejects my admin name/password.

Fresh install, no modifications.

Please advise as soon as possible.
