Forum integration

I have searched for this but no answer. I also have “subscribed” to the Vanilla community but must wait for “approval”. so, i thought some php guru could help me out 🙂
So, i have installed and integrated Vanilla forum and WP 2.0.4 (only DB integrated). Now, i want the Vanilla forum to “theme” to my site theme. Example; if you goto http://www.mytimewithgod.net/xdforum, you will see that the forum is in the “content” area with a WP left and right sidebar and a WP header and footer. This is the exact way i want the Vanilla forum to “integrate”.
The path of WP is /doc_root and the path for the vanilla forum is /doc_root/forum. So the vanilla forum stuff does not know about the WP functions and theme functions and stuff. I have tried to include wp-blogheader.php in the forum (vanilla) head.php file but get a wp-includes cache error. Also tried to include the themes functions in this head.php file, to no avail. Can anyone here help me integrate my site theme with the vanilla forum?

Thank you HandySolo! Unfortunately not. I have tried the devlounge instructions many times, to no avail. Also, i want to do something different than what that site is doing (using header banner). I want my froum to show in the middle (content area) of the page.

Yeah that is the integration of DB’s. I have done that with no problems and am looking to now integrate vanilla into my existing theme.

Did you get this figured out? It looks like the answer might be “sort of.” 🙂

It also looks like with a bit of CSS tweaking, the forum could look exactly like you were hoping – if I understand you correctly.

Let me know. I’d be willing to play with the CSS a bit. I’m thinking of doing something similar with my site.

Yes, with the help of filosofo, it is now intergrated into my theme. I also was able to integrate the DB (so users only have to login once). I will be happy to help, if i can.
