First Byte Time & Combining CSS & JS files

    Im having trouble with my first byte time and trying to combine CSS and JS files

    Ive done multiple test on webpagetest.com and no matter what i do those same results always show up as the same http://i.imgur.com/7poxHts.png

    I managed to get my “Compress Images” to a A from B
    I also managed to get “Cache Static Content” from a D to a B
    And “Effective use of CDN” from a X to a Check mark

    But no matter what i do my First Byte Time is always F (ive got it to C once temporally)

    And my “Cache Static Content” due to having to Combine Css and JS files always stays at B

    Ive tried many plugins to try and combine these files and am currently using w3 Total Cache – when ever i try to minify, my pictures and videos go blank, the same results with WP Minify and other pluging do the same as well

    Ive run test on some popular sites and their First Byte Time and Cache Static Content most dont seem to be perfect as well

    are these important?

    My site takes a while to pick up but once it does it loads pretty quick – I know the TIme to First Byte is the result of this is their any way i can increase this..

    Im using Godaddy – i blurred images to my site due to not wanting it to be public as of now

    WP Supercache will possibly work better for you. Remove W3 Total Cache carefully. Install WP Super Cache plus :

    1. Use .htaccess rules to optimize (you know them I guess)
    2. Use CDN Sync Tool
    3. Activate all “Recommended” settings on WP Super cache settings page. Obviously you will be using mod rewrite.
    4. Activate preloading.

    Increase in First Byte Loading Time increases the chance of getting a white page by the user geographically far away from the server.

    You will find link to my guide on WP Total cache’s Other Notes tab (Date wise First, that means the last one). I said it to assure you that I am not against WP Total cache (its like Windows vs Mac), but in some cases WP Total cache works better.

    There are many reasons why some popular sites get the problem. With time, like a website can become beyond repair fast, the required time to repair the database is impractical. But never compare with such enterprise grade setup. They might have issues with loadbalancers, they might show deliberate misleading result when tested with automated software.
