Let me see if I can explain this better. If I provide screenshots I don’t believe it would aid in any way.
Basically my site is a photography blog that utilizes the homepage as a fullwidth blog. The images displayed on the page are essentially featured images of the post that when click on would direct the user to the full post and provide them with social icons below the image to then share the image. However, I have removed the permalink from each post so this is not possible to view as I don’t want to make custom slugs for each post..
Is it possible to embed your social icons within the featured image of a post.. I have tried using the css within the media file as well as the post but neither one embeds the icons within the featured image.
Does this make sense?
Ok, I think I understand a bit better what you’re trying to achieve, however I cannot tell from here. Also, this is more a template-related thing rather than a plugin thing. Could you please ask the creator of your template about it?
I contacted my creator and they stated:
“This happens, because the plugin is only triggered when you are on the Blog Single page. This is usually the case, because the shared URL then is equal to the Blog Post. If it would work on the Blog Page, where all your Posts are, then the URL would be just a generic http://www.mi-nutiae.com/blog. If you would like to change this behaviour, then please contact that author of the plugin.”
I am trying to use this on my homepage where my blog post feed lies. http://www.mi-nutiae.com

Ok, did you select to show the icons also on your blog homepage (under question 3)?
I do not see an option for this it only says show them before or after posts. Which would allow them to appear on the blog post when its clicked on but not the homepage because I suppose that the back end is not reading my homepage as a blog page..
Also I am not even sure if this plugin does what I need it to do.. I want users to be able to share an individual image by hovering over the image and having the icons appear..I don’t want then to share the entire site. Does the plugin only let users share the entire site or can they share just the image or post?

You’re right, with this plugin users can share the page they’re on, not a specific image (yet).
