OK im very frustated i spent like 10 hours to fix this googling everywhere but i did not solved it.

I was running WordPress 2.6 with in domainame.com/blog/ and everything was fine but then i decided i wanted to move it to domainame.com root

so i maybe did wrong but I went into Settings inside wp-admin controlpanel and changed both of the mydomain.com/blog/ to mydomain.com and then i start getting Errors

Then without uninstalling wordpress 2.6 (removing blog folder)
i started upload 2.7 to root (no wordpress instalation there)

once i finished upload i try to install by going to :
    http://www.mydomain/wp-admin/install.php

    and i get this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: wp_cache_init() in /home/larfen/jlfusion-www/wp-settings.php on line 265

I tried uploading the files again without help

I even edited the config.php file again from a fresh copy (from same zip folder that was downloaded) and edited it with crimson
    but still not work

I have started using a New FTP software since the one i used before FTP LE was so old and slow

the new ftp program i use is called Filezilla
    can that be the problem?

I havent created a new database in Mysql since i did that the first time i installed wordpress

Can anyone guide me through this and get a solution
should i go back to 2.6?
Im running vista on my pc

Its more or less the same problem which i have faced.

Before going further i have a small question. Is mysql database is created in first installation of Wp2.6 ?

Since the word press installation saves the path i.e.
http://<domain.com>/otherdir in database. So please check in database and modify there.

It was difficult for me earlier , but to do hands on , i found a site http://www.click2try.com or a direct link for wordpress http://www.click2try.com/catalog/Communications/WordPress/details and tested the complete word press appliance there. The version for wordpress there is 2.6

Hope above information will help to fix the issue , or else please revert back.

you went about this very wrong
try to point your 2 url’s to the actual install – where it is now
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL

if that doesn’t work, you need to drop all tables in database and run install again from root. Filezilla is an excellent ftp client.
Don’t try to revert back unless you are sure of what you’re doing.

    I finaly Fixed the problem
I had to gointo MySql and Remove the WordPress database files one by one
There was no way in control panel to remove all db files at once

Then I tried install 2.7 again now with the old wordpress files completely gone seem to have been the culpit

But after i installed WordPress 2.7 I had 2 problems:
    – No screenshots of my themes
    – The theme i use seem to not be compatible

I had to painfully uninstall it all again and i installed 2.65
but then i found out was not compatible with that either
so Now i uninstalled/installed version 2.6 and it work good.

Noway if i want to try 2.7 anytime soon

if that was not enough after going to all this trobles WordPress comes up with a “Must-upgrade” screen that didnt want to go away
I fixed this by editing the version.php and then clicking upgrade (wount go away) then it say database was updated and it dont seem to have made problem for the theme.

WordPress is realy doing this wrong 2.7 is going same way as Vista Vs XP and Forcing you to upgrade is all wrong.

Anyway i glad i got it working again
i even backed up the database files before so i could easy restore most of the work before this problem happen.
