• I tried to update my site to the lateset version of wordpress through the automatic updater but it failed. Since then I haven’t been able to access the site or the wp-login. Everytime I try I get a message saying Fatal error: Call to undefined method WP_Scoped_User::WP_User() in /home/content/p/r/a/praxisforlife/html/wp-content/plugins/role-scoper/scoped-user_anon.php on line 31. I have no idea how to resolve this issue and I need to get access back to the site, update it, and update the content. Thanks!

  • Looks like you need to deactivate the role-scoper plugin – which you can do via FTP or other file manager accesw – see:

How can I access that as I am not the one who originally made the site. I have only come on to update the content for the owner.

You’ll need to get access to the site files on the server – via FTP or another file manager system like Cpanel – depending on what the hosting company uses. Where is the site hosted?

I just sent a message to the owner to find out where it is hosted but he is very technologically illiterate and the site hasn’t been touched in years. Is there some way I can find that information in the likely event that he doesn’t know where it is?

    Appears to be GoDaddy:

So you could contact them for help with accessing the site, though I expect they will require some proof of ownership, etc.

So I was finally able to access the files and just added an x on the end of role-scoper plugin folder name to disable it temporarily while I work on everything and it looks like that solved everything. Thanks for your help!
