Hi Richard,
Does the backup succeeds if you backup the plugins only?
Thanks,
Bryle
No it fails, I stated that above and provided the log file.
Backup FAILED Log when ONLY backing up the Plugin folder.

Also, notice (see my previous comment) the Plugins Count NEVER Resolves. It ALWAYS says calculating.
Thanks,

Hi Richard,
Can you ask your host to check the PHP error log and check if they see any error around the time the backup is running? Can you also if they are able to increase your server I/O limit, maximum_execution_time and site memory? I believe it has something to do with your server resources.
Thanks,
Bryle
Yes, I already checked that and there are no PHP errors.
I am the admin for the server and I watched the available resources while UpDraftPlus was running and there were no unusual spikes or high activity that would have limited the UpDraftPlus from running.
The maximum_execution_time, and site memory settings are fine and their values are in the log files. Have you looked at them??
The Plugin count was finally resolved.
Plugins: 73.8 count
Themes: 24.8 MB count
Uploads: 53.2 MB count
Others: 161.9 MB count
Again, everything backs up successfully WITHOUT the Plugins selected.
If I select to backup everything, everything FAILS.
If I select to back up ONLY Plugins it FAILS.
Richard
Any idea why this is failing to backup Plugins? I have 2 sites where the same exact thing is happening.

Hi Richard,
Please can you try to re-install the plugin? Then run a new backup?
Also, try using a different browser or incognito mode? See if makes a difference please.
Thanks,
Bryle
Yes, I did that.
Before I ran the UpDraftPlus backups. I deleted the UpDraftPlus plugin and the UpDraftPlus backup folder where the temp files are written during the backup. I reinstalled the UpDraftPlus plugin and the log files above are from those backups after reinstalling the plugin.
Remember the UpDraftPlus plugin backs up everything EXCEPT the Plugins. If Plugins are selected to be backed up the WHOLE backup fails, nothing is backed up. If I deselect Plugins to backup it works.
That answers your question about the browser. As my scheduled automatic backups fail too, which are “not running” in a browser, like when I manually test the backups. So this is not a browser issue.
Why does selecting Plugins to backup cause UpDraftPlus to Fail?

Hi Richard,
Can you share to us the latest backup log, please?
I will consult my colleague.
Thanks,
Bryle
Are you Serious!? The log file link is in the FIRST Post!! How many times have I said that? Now I have to wait another 24-48 hours again to get an answer for something I already gave you!?
I don’t mean to be rude. The back up consistently fails every time. I provided the log file in the FIRST POST to save time so you didn’t have to ask for it.
Richard
Also having the exact same error with plugins

Hi,
Apologies. I though there were changes with the settings since the first post.
I will ask my colleague to check on this.
Thanks,
Bryle
Ok, no worries mate, yes no changes were necessitated as I had prior to posting tried all your suggestions out of habit.
I like your plugin and I am anxiously looking to figure out what the problem is. I appreciate your help mate.
Richard
Have you spoken to your colleague?
Do you have an update why UpdraftPlus is failing to backup Plugins?
I have 2 sites where the same exact thing is happening.
