  • What function? Fix what? If could elaborate more on your issue we could potentially help.

    sorry. Here is more of an explaination: our posts are rather long and we would like to place most of the post in an “extended post” where the reader can click if they want to read more and the text doesn’t take up tons of space. How do we do that? We can’t seem to find that function. (We are new to wp, obviously.) Thanks!

    Isn’t there a “more” quicktag in your admin panel right above the text area? Just click and put it where you want to break the text.

    Thank you, I just tried clicking on the “more” button and placing the line in the text where I wanted an “extension” and all it did was add a few lines of white space to the paragraph, but not a “more” button or “if you want to read more click here” type of thing. Any further tips and what am I doing wrong? Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

    Clicking the “more” button above the text input area it should insert the following where your cursor is:
    <!--more-->
    Try to type it manually, it should work, too.
    And if your quicktag button doesn’t insert the code above… you should try to upload again the quicktags.js file into your wp-admin folder.

    Thank you, it worked! The only thing is, once I did it, all the text in every single post after the one I did the “more” thing with got larger, meaning the font size increased. huh? anyone have an idea of why?

    This isnt working for me…i’ll add the <!–more–> code at the beginning of the text i want inside and at the end and then click publish and it doesnt work…

    No, no, no, no, no. That’s not the way it works.

    You type the text you want to have displayed initialy. Then you enter <!–more–> and then type the rest.

    You only put the more tag in once.

    Ah…could be why its not working….*tests it out*…didnt work:( <!–more–> is what i typed. My blog is http://www.elessar.wordpress.com/ Its the most recent post that im trying to get the ‘more’ to work.

    You should talk to the guys at wordpress.com. This is wordpress.org.

    Its the same program, or nearly the same, how hard is it to give a little help?

    As far as I know they use a modified version of WordPress MU http://mu.wordpress.org/
    Normally the solutions posted above should help (for a plain WP). Not using WP MU – we don’t know what to say.

    Fair enough, just seemed like you were just shrugging me off 😛 I’ll look around and try to figure it out…
