Expanding Carousel

Hi hope someone can take time out to help please.
I am using the ‘MAX Magazine’ theme for my site, it features a Carousel on the home page picking items to display from the News Item category. However I want to display snippets from up to 12 posts and at present the carousel only allows 5 posts, can someone please help by telling me if and how this may be done.
