I downloaded this plugin to a new site with 12 images on it. It did a scan and told me I had well over 100 images and so it could only compress some, but I would need to pay for an upgrade to do the rest. When upgrade tactics go wrong, eh! lol

  • Hi @steviemac,

    Thanks for your message.

I’m sorry we weren’t able to make it clear enough for you that the plugin is free to use for 100 credits/month. We explicitly say, in the plugin page, that the plugin is freemium, and also this:

    How much it costs?
ShortPixel comes with 100 free credits/month and additional credits can be bought for as little as $4.99 for 5,000 image credits.

Relevant pricing information can be found here.

We’ll be around if you need further assistance.

the point is I had 12 images on my site, but the plugin said I had something like 167 on my site and so would have to pay to upgrade. I know you have pay for over 100 images, thats fine. The point is I had only 12 images 🙂

    Hi there,

When you start the optimization process the system optimizes the original images and also the thumbnails. The thumbnails are not created by our plugin, but by WordPress – we only compress them. The number of thumbnails depends on the theme and plugins you use: ShortPixel Image Optimizer – A credit equals an optimized image?

You can exclude either all thumbnails from compression – we don’t recommend this approach – or exclude particular thumbnail sizes: How can I optimize only certain thumbnail sizes?

    Cheers,
