Error Message when Upgrading

I’m trying to upgrade to the newest version of WP, but when I try to automatically update, I get the following error message:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2966269 bytes) in /home2/lakeside/public_html/wordpress/wp-includes/http.php on line 1363

could someone tell me how to fix it? Thanks!

I tried the memory bump app as well as adding a string I found in a search for resolving this problem…nothing worked!
