    Hi,

I am migrating my blog to the OVH hosting. I installed WordPress 2.6 and sometimes (it’s frequent, but most of the time it works) I obtain the following error :

    Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at mysql5-7. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    * Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    * Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    * Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

Do you have an idea ? Or a clue ?

    Regards,
    Eric

  • Hey I am pretty much having the same problem with OVH.

I don’t really know what to do. I just bought a hosting for 1 year and this message pops up almost constantly.

Does anyone knows what’s the matter?

Should I change my hosting again? Or is there a bypass?

You need to check, double check and then triple check that your database details are correct in the wp-config.php file. Mostly it is an error in there causing this problem.

If that is not the case I remember and old host that I was on did not use a ‘localhost’ databases and therefore you had to enter the location of the server into the ‘DB HOST’ section of the wp-config.php file. When I did this will its domain it sometimes failed although putting the IP address of the database rather than the domain solved these problems.

If you are not using localhost as your DB host then this might be a way forward.

    Hi,

You need to check the correct database name, username and password in wp-config.php and for the hostname details you have to contact your hosting service provider..if it is still not resolve the issue then you have to update your service provider to restart MySQL service in order to work it properly..

    Thanks,

    Shane G.
