Me Too!! Thanks folks!
WP 2.7 – Can View a Specific Page, but Can not Edit – Displays “Error 500”
My hosting company is also 1and1. I called 1and1, they are not willing to support me.
I am using WP 2.7 and am unable to edit a specific page in a category.
I and all visitors can view the page, but when I try to edit that specific page, I get this error message:
“Error 500 – Internal server error”.
I have not changed anything recently nor added any plugin. The last time I accessed that page was just 3 days ago, with out a problem.
The “pages” link in WP has about 7 categories, but the issue is with ONLY 1 page. The rest 6 have no issues, I can view and edit them all.
I tried IE, FF, Chrome and Safari – all display same error page.
I don’t understand why this is happening as I have not had any issues so far.
Please help as I desperately need to edit that problematic page.
Thanks
Update:
I tried Brian’s solution, and it worked!
Thank you Brian.
I hope that I won’t run into same problem again.

Thanks Brian. You’re the man!
Not working for me, either. Same hosting company, same problem…only have aproblem with the pages, not the categories. Any other thoughts?
Brian, I’d like to start organizing a parade in your honor. Thanks for the easy solution.
Okay, so add me to the list of those for whom none of the above solutions is working (no luck with either the memory=20MB trick or .htaccess).
I can access the dashboard, and I can retrieve the actual rss feed (e.g., ?feed=rss2), but the index.php file returns the 500 Server Error.
The only plugin I’m using is Akismet (which I tried de-activating just in case – doesn’t fix anything). WP is version 2.7.1.
The problem seemed to have started today, which doesn’t really make any sense to me as I haven’t made any changes in about 2 weeks.
Thank you!!! It worked perfectly!
Another story here of the two fixes mentioned NOT working. This started about a week ago just as paulrichardcook says.
Rebuilding has no effect.
this is a 1and1 problem
I had to endure their crap for to long I dont like calling to the other side of the world where they have NO CLUE
I can wait to move to another host

I was having issues accessing the widgets section in the admin, adding AddType x-mapp-php5 .php to .htaccess worked. Cheers!
