    You’re importing into a multisite.

    Have you turned off all other plugins on that site? You may need to turn off network activated plugins too.

    Have you switched back to the TwentyEleven theme?

    i have tried disableing all plugins mu-plugins and all network activated plugins.

    i have turned off domainmapping but i still get this error.

    Just on a lark, can you test importing into a single site somewhere? It may be the file you’re importing that’s the problem.

    when running it on a CLEAN wp install i get a 500 internal server error. :S

    i tried some more today. i am still beeing redirectet on a clean install to the frontpage with the 404 error

    Anything i can try @ipstenu?

    I’m going to take a guess and say it’s the content you’re trying to import. Something’s broken with it.

    i used a test data plugin to create my dataset so it should work… 10 posts..

    the importer is not working with this.

    A what now?

    If, every time, you attempt to import the same data it fails, on multiple instances, then we’re at Occam’s razor here.

    You can try importing http://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Unit_Test and see if that works to confirm.
