• Question. I’ve just set up a WP site for the wife, and everything is working fine, except for one thing.

I have a category list widget in the sidebar, and even though there is only one post so far (a welcome post) in one category, three other empty categories are listed there showing (1) post.

Confused, I went to the Categories page from the Dashboard, and those three empty categories are showing 1 post there also. There have never (so far) been posts assigned to those categories. I also checked the database, nothing.

Very simple site using the “Twenty Sixteen” theme with a few plugins. Site is at http://www.letsmakequilts.com

Never had this happen before. Any idea what might be causing this?

    Thanks…

  • If you edit that post, is only one category box checked or all three?

Hi Mark, thanks for the reply.

Double checked that multiple times, just the one category checked.

Spent quite a bit of time checking everything before posting, and really has me puzzled. Only one category checked on the only post on the site, nothing in the database except that one post, and why only those three particular categories are showing incorrectly out of eight is a mystery…

I still don’t know why that was happening, but we resolved it by simply adding a blog to each of those categories. I wondered if it would then show 2 entries per category, but oddly it doesn’t. It now correctly shows just one.

No fix to report, but this is no longer an issue…

I have exactly the same problem! No fix?

ktolliver: Sorry, never found a fix for the problem…
