Emailing Registered Users

    Hi, I am new to WordPress. I have been reading around a lot and gathering information for the site I am going to build. One feature I would like to use is to be able to send out email updates/alerts to anyone who signs up for it through my site. I found this plugin http://www.instinct.co.nz/e-commerce

    But I don’t really see how it works. Does anyone have site examples that I can see it in action?

    Is the registering to your site a different than signing up to be emailed? I guess would a person register for your site and then they would be asked to receive emails? or is it two different sections?

    Thanks, My questions probably aren’t too clear.

    i just went through this process and decided to use Feedblitz they handle the delivery, keep you off spam black lists etc. Their service is free- they an add on the bottom of the emails, or you can have a pro account and skip the ads. they give you good statistics on delivery, opens etc. All you add is a snipet of code to a page and you are in business. see http://www.lakewenatcheeinfo.com check out subscribe by email for an example.

    Thanks for the suggestion. I will look into it, but does that mean there isn’t a plug in for running an “eletter” on your site?

    there is code to ‘subscribe’ (see the site) anytime there is a new post(s) on any given day an email will be generated. you have control over how much of the content is mailed (a teaser or the whole post). you control when (more or less) and can customize the mailing. best of all you don’t have to worry about any of the hassles of managing outbound email.

    the instinct plugin you named is an e-commerce one, but they do a communications one too, search their site for it. search on google too for plugins to email wordpress users, there are loads, most of which provide opt in for the front end
