to enable email alerts to be sent to particular membership types when particular categories of posts are added?
Can you provide more information. For example: Are these alerts meant to be sent automatically by SMP? Or are these alerts sent manually by the site administrator?
And for users to be able to manage such alerts?
Can you elaborate further on the above?
The alerts should be sent automatically when a new post is added.
Users should be able to at least turn off the alerts (ie unsubscribe) but maybe also change from alert on a new post to, for example, a weekly summary.

Hi, so what you are looking for is a subscription plugin? Is this correct?
I already have a what I think would be described as a subscription plugin – Simple WP Membership – which I already use to manage access to pages for particular users.
Now I want to add the alert/notification features as described. This could be with an extra plugin to Simple WP Membership or it could be a complete replacement.

Unfortunately we don’t have a feature or addon that caters for what you are looking for. The above mentioned plugin can help in conjunction with our plugin.
