Recently, I added some code in the functions.php file of my child theme to add product number and product SKU number to the catalog page. The product ID showed up correctly, but not the SKU. How would I go about fixing this?

Also, I am no longer able to access the product SKU under Products>General. Where do I need to go in order to edit SKU info?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Please clarify what you mean by the catalog page? On the shop (product list) page I only see the product names and pricing. On the product view I see the SKU being prompted with N/A as the entry.

In the meantime, if you go to the Product Data widget under the Inventory tab while in product admin you can manually enter a SKU.

If you want to bulk import these you would typically use the column header convention in the WooCommerce documentation or select the SKU mapping option while using the native csv importer.

Sorry I had changed my theme for testing purposes on a separate problem. When I am in my main theme (Again, sorry I forgot I was in my testing theme when posting), the shop is supposed to have the product name, price, and SKU number. Product ID was correctly printed, but the SKU will not show up. Any suggestions to solve?

Products will not automatically have a SKU when you create them. Alternatively, items will all be given a Product ID upon creation. Is there a reason why you need to show the product ID on the front-end? Generally, it’s only useful for back-end applications.

Entering the SKU should be as easy as editing the SKU field at [Product Data > Inventory] in admin mode for a product.

When I open the product data tab, there is nothing to specify a SKU. A “sold individually” check box is the only thing to show up.

Your best bet is to undo the customizations you’ve done around the SKU – you want to make sure it works, before modifying it.

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
