Editing Default Page Template
-
I am trying to find where to change my shop’s hours. I have done it in the past, but can’t remember (or find) it now.
I seem to recall it was editing the Default Page Template, but can’t find that anywhere?
I know this is easy, but I swear I have clicked on everything!!! UGH!
Thanks, Cliff

Hello
There is a good chance to found it at the Customize menu option at Appearance.
You will see your web site, but you will be able to edit some areas by clicking a pencil inside a blue disk Icon.
May be your shop open hours text area have an icon like the one mentioned above and you can use it to edit these.
I hope this can be of use to you.
Best regards.
Neither of those things seem to help.
I seem to remember finding it through the first technique you mention, but if it is there now, it’s very well hidden.
I thing it is text on the “Default Template,” but I can’t find a way to edit any templates?!?!
Does this help? This is the source from the webpage, but I can’t find how to edit it in the WordPress editor.
<body class=”home page-template-default page page-id-4 page-parent logged-in admin-bar no-customize-support top-navbar”>

</div>Maybe you used the theme editor to change that text, it’s located at the Theme Editor at Appearance menu, if it’s the first time you open that menu, you will get a message like this one: https://imgur.com/Qvm8wwt
It only appears the first time, so if you see it, you surely used another method to edit the theme.
The theme editor requires you select your actual theme and the file containing the text, it’s easy to broke the theme if you have never used this editor.
Finally, all the text at your page is at the Database or in the theme files, so if you are still unable to find it, you could use a more complex method.
First, would be good to make a full site backup to avoid any real complication and then:
You can use this plugin to export your entire database to a .SQL file, then use a text editor to find the text, like Notepad++, Atom, Sublime text, notepad and such; if you find your text you can edit it and import it to the website Database.
You can use a file manager tool to download your actual theme files then use any of the text editors mentioned above to find the text, edit the file and upload it again.
Let me know what’s your case to give you more details if you like.

I get that heads up message, but I’m wondering if that’s because I have updated the Theme at least a couple of times since my last edit?
I’ll give it a look and be careful.
It almost looks like I can get there.
The Roots theme tries to open style.css, but it opens funky and the content displays in the lower right instead of the window. It won’t let me change the file selected in the menu.<sigh> I’m going to take a break from this. Will look at it after the weekend.
If your text is inside a theme file, it probably could be at the header.php.
To see the theme files you must click in “select”, then a file list will appear at the right side like this: https://imgur.com/PBzLxYJWould be good if you can let me know the theme name, I could check it out to see if I can find something.

I found a plugin that searches all the files in WordPress, the theme files or the plugin files; if your text is inside a theme file, this one will surely find it for you.
Hope this help.
I Just Went to the Host site and looked at every file until I found it.
For anyone’s Information; it was in header-top-navbar.php of the Theme files.I put the info in my Operations Manual, so hopefully I won’t be struggling next tiem.
P.S. to anyone interested there is a BUG. If I Open the “Theme Editor” with my active theme Roots, it displays wonky and I can’t change files to look/edit anything except the initial one. If I change to a different theme, it works fine. I tried different browsers thinking that was the problem, but it had the same behavior. I’m running Windows 10 on all my machines, so that might contribute. (I know it worked when I was running Win 7)
P.S. THANK YOU for all the help!
P.P.S. I posted two replies over the weekend form my phone that don’t seem to be in the thread? Not sure what happened there? <sigh> Well, I’m running now.
You are welcome and looks like this is a resolved issue, if you think so, please set the Status to resolved.
Best regards from QV creative.
