Dynamic menu help?

Hey,

I’m working on a dynamic menu in which I want to show the post count numbers ( 1, 2, 3, etc..) but link it elsewhere. I wanted to know if there was a way I could either generate that with an echo statement calling out the post_IDs and masking it somehow or if using a custom field and labeling it manually like that would work better? I’m still learning php so any help would be grand.
