Hi there, are you running a current version of Link Library? I know there were problems with media library duplicates in the past but I thought I had addressed these issues. Trying to reproduce the issue in my test environment, I don’t get these duplicates. I tried creating a new link and assigning an image, then going back and editing and re-saving the link and I still don’t have any duplicate.
Do you know when these duplicates appear in your workflow? Do you often edit your links? Do you update your links in batches through the CSV import functionality?
In terms of eliminating the duplicates, this plugin sounds like it could help with that: https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/media-deduper/
I am using the most up to date version of the plugin. The only thing that I can think of, is that I use Yoast Duplicate Post to duplicate links, but I’m still trying to determine which circumstances exactly cause the issue.
I have tried media deduper, but it doesn’t seem to detect the duplicated images.
Oh, well apparently media depuper was blocking new media items from being created. I turned that feature off and reproduced the issue. All I did was create a new link with title and web address and copy and paste an image into the image text box. I did not use YOAST duplicate post.
My Active plugins are:
Admin Columns
Akismet Anti-Spam
Classic Editor
Jetpack by WordPress.com
Link Library (obviously)
Media Deduper (installed after the issue started)
Regenerate Thumbnails (also installed after the issue started)
Shortcodes Ultimate
Wordfence (also installed after the issue started)
WPForms Lite
Yoast Duplicate Post
I’m also using the Directory Starter theme if that has any bearing on the matter.
Update, I was able to batch delete the duplicated images in groups of about 300. Media Deduper is preventing any additional duplicates from being created.
I will be pushing out a fix for this issue later today in version 7.0.1.
