• Hi everyone!

So I draft a lot of posts on WordPress mobile, especially when I’m in an area without cell service (so they save locally and when I’m later by wifi I update the drafts)

I wrote a really long post and accidentally deleted it. Is there any way I can access it and restore the post via the back end somehow?

Not sure if more info is needed. Thanks for the help!

  • Is this for WordPress.com? If so, you may want to head over to support

In self-hosted WordPress, you can look in the trash for deleted posts.

For wordpress.org. I chekced the trash and it wasn’t in there because I believe I wrote the draft locally (on my mobile device). is there any way to get it back?

    Hi,
If you didn’t connect to the server before deleting, it would never have made it to the database. I’m not sure how mobile handles trash. Did you look in the trash on your mobile?

yes 🙁 i thought maybe it would be embedded in the cache..it was saved a few times as a draft, just locally saved only.

It may be possible so don’t delete the cache for the mobile just yet. I don’t think I’m the right person to answer the question at this point.

    What app are you using?

just the wordpress app on an iphone. i believe it integrates with .com and .org. i used to run my site with .com …I’m not sure which version I have (it’s up to 8.0) but in the app store it says “update” so it’s deff not the most recent. and I probably shouldn’t update so I don’t lose that cache.

can any mobile gurus assist me in looking through the cache? thanks in advance!

    bump. can anyone help me?

For fun I went over to the wordpress.com support to see if they had anything on the WordPress app and found this.
It looks like the WordPress app doesn’t have offline support so your post may not be in the cache.
