You could have installed the ‘Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades’ plugin and restored the older version of the ContactForm7 plugin without losing configuration.
Until the author updates to fix the plugin you can download a previous version here:

Just scroll to the bottom and use the dropdown menu to select the last version.
If you ever need to do this with other plugins, go to the main download page for any plugin and on the right hand side there’s an option ‘Advanced View’ just above the ratings.
Installing the old version doesn’t remove your forms, I’m not sure how you downgraded but just copy the old files over into the plugin directory. The forms are stored in your WP Database.

That’s what I did. I uninstalled CF7 plugin. Downloaded older version. And the next thing I know all the forms were gone. I think deleting the plugin caused this. Anyway thank god I had full-backup.

You need not to unistall rater than you upload files via ftp from the old version.
