• Greetings,

I have a client that wants to switch to WP. Can I install WP into the root directory of the server without effecting there current plain html setup. In other words, will they play nicely together until I am ready to delete index.html and go live with WP?

    Thanks!

  • Current site is all .html? If so, then no problem, but you might have to tell the web server to have index.html defaulted over index.php.

The current website is all html (maybe some js, dhtml, etc). The site is hosted on PowWeb I believe. Will I need to contact them about defaulting to html instead of php or will that be something I can do myself? At any rate, thanks for the quick response. My guess is that it won’t be a problem.

As you might know: you/they will not be able to have two (2) index files at the root: an index.html and an index.php.
Theoretically you can… but some of WP’s features will stop working.
