• Hello everyone,

I would like to know if anyone has been able to resolve the .docx issue when uploading a file. Doing a website for a client of mine and I want to a contact form that will be able to upload a resume.
I’m fine with letting people upload pdfs but docx is the most common way people send their files.

I’ve been testing with other formats and so far everything’s been working except docx. At first I thought it was just me but apparently many people have had this problem, however I’ve seen no answer.

Can anyone let me know if they’ve done this? Thanks!

  • I’ve been using this plugin (Contact Form 7) for years to upload doc/docx files without any problems. Nothing is stored on the server. The contact form includes [file my-file limit:50mb filetypes:pdf|doc|docx|odt] and by using the [my-file] shortcode the email I receive contains any attached files.

Question: Are you sure you are in the correct forum? The page you link to has a *Gravity Forms* shortcode.

Oh, yeah, I started testing with other plugins. Till this moment no success.

What I have is: [file* file filetypes:jpg|pdf|docx limit:2mb]

I’ve been able to upload jpg and pdfs, but whenever I try to upload a docx the arrows start spinning but never stop.

I changed it to what @pidengmor has and still no go…

    I would try:

    a) disable all other plugins and enable a stock WordPress theme (e.g. Twenty-Seventeen) to rule out a conflict.
    b) check your error logs
    c) check with your host. There may be some aggressive mod sec rules in play.
